London Trip

We had a trip to London so that we could see Legible London. The signs were really easy to spot and were very easy to use. The modern design of the signs fits in with the majority of London, on the older streets it may have looked slightly out of place but generally the design fits very well..

Taking this into consideration I want to design my information board so that it fits in well with the rest of the surrounding area and I want the information to be very easy to read. I do not want to include too much information that isn’t needed as this would just clutter the board.
The colours used on these signs were very easy to spot, maybe this is something that I should consider in my final designs…

The audience for Legible London is generally 14-39 year olds. The designers have targeted this well as they have used bright contrasting colours. The design is also very modern, this means that the younger audience won’t just ignore it as they walk past they might actually use the boards. The colours used are navy blue, yellow and white. The navy blue is the background colour. The main colour is yellow, they have chosen a bright colour for this so that it stands out on top of the navy blue. The white is then used for the information and text. On the information boards the map is at a height that if you were in a wheelchair you would be able to read the information. The sign posts have been placed in plain sight so that they are easy to find and use.
